HMTV Canada Tina: 1. Hi France How are you doing?
France: Pretty good so far thx :)
HMTV Canada Tina: 2. Just curious what technical career in Germany were you pursuing in 2005?
France: Industrial Metal Mechanichs, I did this for about 3 ½ years at the VW car factory.
HMTV Canada Tina: 3. Is this technical career related to your music background?
France: No, not at all, when I started the career I was still about making my life working at the car plant and growing up in there, but it all turned out differently. My life has changed in a whole way since I picked up music again, it’s already 2 years ago, since I left Germany to get back over to Mexico.
HMTV Canada Tina: 4. Can you tell us about your unique style of music major influences?
France: With mYcOmplEX1 my style is the answer of something people might’ve heard already a couple of times. My major influences come from Limp Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot, Metallica (as so many), House music and a couple of some more things. I kinda mixed a little bit of everything, took 3 languages and made all fit into some songs. I guess it’s all just about the music I like hearing. I would still go on with this, even if I was the only person on earth hearing to my stuff. I love experimenting with things and new styles, its all about the mood I’m in when a new song is started. Mostly I’m pretty much into thoughts, so things go deep, as in “everything flows”… With Tracks n Conscience its all about the electronics and movies I love.
HMTV Canada Tina: 5. What inspirations or themes do you write about in your song writing process?
France: Its weird, people might think I’m crazy or something, haha I think they do anyway, but I hear stuff in my head when I go asleep, sometimes it’s so bad, I have to sleep with a guitar by my side, so I wont forget. The lyrics come out pretty subliminal, cause I never actually chose a theme for any lyric, I start writing and the pen almost moves alone. When I’m done I have to read things a couple of times, to understand what my mind brought up and its almost always about things that kept me thinking or bothered me, my life is a mess and people who know me, reading those lyrics know exactly what happened, but you can go for yourselves and try :) It’s some kind of self therapy to get along better with my life.
HMTV Canada Tina: 6. Can you tell us about your instruments or recording environment?
France: I got an Esp F-400 Fm with .11 Strings, a Marshall 100W Amp, a Boss Gt-6 Pedal, a badly fucked up 4 year old Lap Top with Windows Xp running Magix Music Maker 2006 on it, I did the samples for “mYcOmplEX1”, “Tracks n´Conscience” and that’s it. I did the recording for mYcomplEX1 in a studio, I recorded voices and guitars, for Tracks n Conscience I did everything myself.
HMTV Canada Tina: 7. What is your motivation for making music?
France: I would say staying alive, it helps me keeping cool.
HMTV Canada Tina: 8. What is the most intellectually challenging thing you look for when producing your music?
France: mmmh, the transforming process of the lyric into different language sections. I twist things around a lot, so I always try to find the connection between the languages, make it sound right, keep the sense and give everybody a chance to understand this still :)
HMTV Canada Tina: 9. Can you provide a little review about your first album Reaction Negative is this album available to buy?
France: r/E was totally for free, it took the range of an album but worked as a demo still. I don’t have a label or an official provider. I look forward to sell the upcoming “tracks n conscience” record. I think you can’t provide anything people don’t know and by the time r/E got finished, I first had to get some attention from people. The record has everything on it, some of the best ones are posted on the myspace page.
HMTV Canada Tina: 10. What can you tell us about your recent project Tracks n´Conscience?

France: It’s an awesome project I really love it and have so much fun with it. It kinda started as a fun thingy 2 months ago and grew up real fast. I also started calling more attention with TnC than with mYcOmplEX1. Right now I’m co-working with a friend from New Zealand (Mike from Jaded Reflection), he does a great job. I’m real excited about all this, cause I decided to give him part of the first TnC record to fill. I do the electronic versions with the complete sampling sections of the movies, I theme about and make up some special bases out of those versions for him. He eats it up and spits it out all differently with a metal touch, it’s awesome. By now he went over “Las Vegas” which was based on “fear and loathing in Las Vegas”, the movies I start basing on, are my own favs. Right now he’s over my first and biggest one “Syron”, also “Fly” is coming up on his version. U gotta love it :)
HMTV Canada Tina: 11. In My Complex 1 is there anything from messages to inspirations?
France: Some, I think the people I mean in those lyrics pretty much know when to feel talked to, “my favour” was one of those, I really hated this person for certain reasons, so yes, sometimes there are deeper messages and sometimes its just stupid hating, simply written in one language to make sure certain people get what I mean haha.
HMTV Canada Tina: 12. What are some of the highlights or creative things you accomplished with My Complex 1?

France: My biggest highlight was when I just finished the mYcOmplEX1 record and wrote Ross Robinson, I asked him for an opinion of what he thought I should make different next time. I didn’t actually expect to get an answer, but I got one and almost fell off my chair. He produced almost every band I ever loved, so it blew me away. Awesome experience!!!
HMTV Canada Tina: 13. Have you certain principles when composing your music?
France: Sometimes, mostly I just play and fool around, whatever comes out is good. I don’t make 50 songs and chose the best 12. I am able to make guided songs, but it isn’t that much fun, as playing in a mindless free fall. I’ve done “Fly” (tracks n conscience), to get help from “In Strict Confidence”, a German group, I’m a real big fan of, but they’re too much under record label pressure right now. I feel like I’m still in the kinder garden, enjoying every second of pressure free time from any labels in this sense.
HMTV Canada Tina: 14. What are your criteria for a well mixed or engineered song?
France: Well I think that the elements you most like in a song should be very clear for everybody to be heard out. I also learned something I didn’t think in with mYcOmplEX1, sometimes its better not to fill a song up with too many elements, it’s easier to mix and even better, cause this way nothing gets really lost and you enjoy more what you hear. I often want to put in more and more, but I think I’m finally learning this, making TnC.
HMTV Canada Tina: 15. What are some of the highlights fans can expect from your current project Tracks N Conscience?
France: The first live shows are programmed for the end of this month. Its gonna take place in Mexico, I still don’t have any request to come over to Canada or to the U.S., so I guess this must still wait. I’m really looking forward to bother In Strict Confidence to make a song with me again, get new projects and requests from other cool artists too. Maybe get the chance from some bigger fishes to make some remixes for their songs, I always wanted to mess along with Tbm, Msi, LB, Korn, anything, I’m up to all.
HMTV Canada Tina: 16. What are the new ideas for this project?
France: Get a Management first cause I really cant keep up with work, marketing, booking, song creation and everything by my own anymore. Music has taken over a while ago and it keeps real busy, as everybody who does something like that knows. I’m looking forward to make a video for one of the TnC songs. I will probably do the video myself, if I get help from anybody, great, if not, same thing. I will also start with the new mYcOmplEX1 record, but I think this will happen until the end of this year. For this next time I won’t go to a studio, I collected enough experience to do the recording and mixing myself too. It’s cheaper anyway and hey, I’m the one man band, why waste any money, There are cool ideas…:)
HMTV Canada Tina: 17. How does Tracks N Conscience differ from your previous musical projects?
France: The genre is the difference, it’s completely electronic and based upon movie samples, mYcOmplEX1 was completely lyrical with much more hand played instruments.
HMTV Canada Tina: 18. Any influences, new themes in the song writing process for Tracks N Science?
France: I basically don’t prepare or write anything for a TnC song, it’s mostly about what movie comes into my mind. My cousin gave me the idea for “the 1” and “fictions” then I do the base, collect samples and that’s basically it. Still I’m looking forward to take bases to a minimum of sounds, just like “Syron” and maybe collaborate more with “Jaded Reflection” and other great artists. I’m open for everything.
HMTV Canada Tina: 19. What is your philosophy for promoting your music?
France: Always keep contact with people, bother everybody until I get an answer and help :)
HMTV Canada Tina: 20. Do you plan on staying in dependant or unsigned?
France: I’ve contacted a lot of people, so I could dedicate more time for music. The advantage of being unsigned is definitely that you have no one pressuring you for a record. Still I don’t think I would have any problems with this, I started TnC two months ago and got the record almost finished. The positive thing about being signed is, that you get sold and have a clear head for music and playing. The only problem I see, is that a lot of labels have no attitude and are too closed into artists whom already ran out of time, or people don’t care about anyway. They don’t dare to open space and put their trust into a new generation of composers and independent musicians. I recently wrote Metropolis records that their demo submission policy sucks. I think they didn’t like that hahaha, but who cares. For solo artist or bands which cant effort sending a package to a label with a demo, which might be probably thrown away without even being heard, this sucks.
HMTV Canada Tina: 21. What do you look for in a record deal?
France: MONEY, getting filthing rich hahaha, kiddin :) I want to be able to live from this and make the effort in case of “working” for a label worth it. I wouldn’t like to be pressured, but I would love to have enough remedies to buy new equipment, sounds and do what I’m good at. If you check out on the TnC myspace, in the photo section, you see a lap top with an external monitor, this is everything TnC is done with and it really aint much, but could be way more… A friend from Mexico City was joking about 1 month ago that if I had enough remedies I would probably bring out my “best of” in one year hahaha lol. So yes, I would appreciate the money, to live from my stuff, the clear head, not to worry about everything before mentioned. I guess this is “all”.
HMTV Canada Tina: 22. Do you think having both a record deal and a distribution deal a benefit for the success of any band?
France: Success is what you make out of it, in the end, you speak through your music and the way you behave with your friends, fans, makes the difference. It might be a benefit which helps you work on your own success, advance and learn out of things for sure.
HMTV Canada Tina: 23. Do you have any tours planned or upcoming shows for 2008?
France: Yes, right now I’m looking for people who book me, at the moment I only play with TnC, the prices are pretty cheap actually, so just send me a mail and ask.
HMTV Canada Tina: 24. Where can the fans request your music on internet radio or local radio?
France: On the VM Underground Show, Radio Electrowahn Germany, Radio Matiz Urbano Mexico and Nvasion Radio Canada. I’m also having a little competition going on with Zealand Mike from Jaded Reflection, you guys vote which of both “Las Vegas” versions you like more and WHY, and you can get a free download for the upcoming TnC album. So run like you were free and get your vote on screen on the TnC myspace.
HMTV Canada Tina: 25. What is your opinion of the music industry today and what would you like to see change?
France: I would love to see those guys open horizon, see their asses in our places and watch those fuckers struggling from cero with no experience, just like a normal band. I fucking hate people which close into one genre, man, grow up, I did this shit when I was 16 years old “u don’t like the band I listen to, u get your ass kicked…” lol, when I think back, I still gotta laugh, but this is just the way some people sitting their asses up in labels still think alike. As long as the people which have the power to change don’t do, nothing will happen. Maybe I should put a little guerrilla mask on and storm into some labels with a burning torch to start the revolution, but as long as other bands don’t seem to care everybody will just sleep on with their big fat eye patch on. The cheapest excuse for labels, magazines or whatever is to say that they get too many demos, my word for them, EMPLOY MORE PEOPLE, YOU EARN ENOUGH. I’ve written Magazines, Labels, Radio stations about 20 times and more… it’s up to your imagination to guess what happened…Not even an answer and this is exactly what has to change. The arrogance in people should change, nobody is better than anybody else just because they do something different ;) burn that into your brains.
HMTV Canada Tina: 26. What do you consider your most significant accomplishment today?
France: Waking up!!!
HMTV Canada Tina: 27. When it comes to your career plans what are your hopes and goals to achieve success?
France: I will not stop doing music, I will go straight on bothering everybody who hasn’t answered or helped me and not concern to get back to a car factory to work :)
HMTV Canada Tina: 28. Before we wrap up our interview do you have any shout outs or any last words?
France: Everybody who does music, get on peoples nerves, as long as you get your voice heard and thx for spending your time with me, I love you very much :)
Thank you France, for allowing HMTV Canada Ezine to interview you.
You Rock
